The Mountain Home is an interdenominational Christian retreat, located on a 40 acre site near the Town of Acton, in the high Mojave Desert of southern California. It is nestled in a small nook, in the southern foothills of the Sierra Pelona Mountains, near 5517 foot, Houser Mountain, directly to the north. Mountain Home is at 3500 feet elevation, located about 50 miles north of Los Angeles, and some 15 miles south of Palmdale, in the Antelope Valley.
Mountain Home
is open year round to provide a peaceful place for
individuals and groups to be "alone" with God. Native rocks were used
to create the buildings that are still in use today. All rooms have
heaters, to make the winter retreatant’s stay more comfortable. The
rock architecture naturally keeps the rooms somewhat cooler during
the summer months. Winter temperatures usually range from 30-40
degrees at night to 50-60 degrees during the day. Summer temperatures
usually range from 65-75 at night to 95-105 during the day. If you
enjoy nature, and roughing-it a bit, this is the place for you and/or
your church group to "get away" for an hour, a day, a week or... ?
