April 4, 2005 Regular Meeting

Called to Order 7:32 p.m. by President Ray Garwacki Jr.

All officers and members present.

The minutes of March 7, 2005 regular meeting approved as read.

Treasurers Report- Madge Rogaczewski reported a Balance of $1540.99

ANNOUNCEMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE -

· From the gallery, Elizabeth Billet announced the Ventura County Resource Conservation District will hold a public workshop on April 30 at Acton Community Center.

PRESENTATIONS

· Representatives from Los Angeles County Dept of Regional Planning and Parks and Recreation presented information regarding formation of an equestrian District and discussed of establishing multi-purpose trails in new tracts.

Trail specifications need to be developed and standards more specific. Also, the Council needs to be involved in design process at an earlier stage.

· Dave Jennings Sheriffs Community Liaison Officer reported on local crime. Announced closing of Acton Storefront, and attempt to collect 1 million AA Cells for troops in Iraq (Operation Gratitude "troopbatteries.com"). Michael Hughes indicated Crown Desert Images may be drop off point.

· Los Angeles County considering Mandatory trash pickup. Is doing surveys.

· New San Gabriel Mountains National Park still being investigated

· Antelope Valley water litigation. Meeting at Palmdale Cultural Center Apr. 8, 8:00 a.m.

· Reported renewals for TM52883, and PM20234-5.

Finance, Ways and Means Chair Madge Rogaczewski

· Inquired as to a 4th of July Booth or activity for the Council.

Trails, Open Space & Recreation Chair Ray Billet - Nothing to report

· Reported on recent trash pickup

· There is a problem with dumping outside of off-site dumpsters. Working on it.

· From the gallery, a resident inquired about having community trash pickup days more often.

· Work is on schedule.

· Second CERT class will graduate 15 on April 5.

· Board has formed 3 groups :Budget Group, Facilities Group and Education Group all to report back with analysis and recommendations.

· Leona Sexton announced she has School Board recall petitions available.

OPEN FORUM

· From the gallery, a resident expressed opinion regarding implementation of an area development plan.

· Ray Billet indicated apparent construction activity at the Lawson project (TM44443) on Y-8 off Cedarcroft.

· Michael Hughes Moved to send letter to Dept of Regional Planning requesting the council be informed of any new construction permits applied for -Motion Carried

The Chair announced the next regular meeting to be held May 2, 2005, 7:30 p.m. Acton Community Center.
