Called to Order 7:34 p.m. by Vice President Dick Morris
David Weary absent, All other officers and members present.
Minutes of September 15 approved as read.
Treasurer's report: Madge Rogaczewski - Reported a Balance of $ 768.23.
ANNOUNCEMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE
PRESENTATIONS
· Andy Malakates from Dept of Regional Planning discussed "One Valley-One Plan" progress and process involved in the preparation of the new general plan for Santa Clarita and related outlying areas. Acton representatives are continuing to participate, but no firm decision has yet been made to be a part of this plan. More specific information is needed.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS
Planning & Coordinating Chair Dick Morris
· CP03149-Lunde Water Co. C.U.P. - Bottling to be removed- Will request revised documents from Los Angeles County.
Finance, Ways and Means Chair Madge Rogaczewski
· Announced that the Karaoke raffle will be held at the Oct. 20 planning meeting
Bylaws Chair Michael Hughes
· Presented proposed amendments for consideration relating to combining Recording and Corresponding Secretaries into one office. Also to tie the Acton Town Council boundaries to the Acton Community Standards District boundaries.
Trails, Open Space & Recreation Chair Ray Billet
· Two trail rides coming up. Oct. 11 with Supervisor Antonovich, and Nov. 1 pancake breakfast and poker ride.
Publicity Chair Madge Rogaczewski
· Need to re-emphasize problems with garage/yard sale signs in media-will send copy to newspapers.
· From the gallery, comments on signs advertising out of town businesses.
Utilities Chair David Eisner -Nothing to report
Community Standards Chair Michael Hughes -Nothing to report
Dave Jennings Sheriffs Community Liaison Officer related information concerning:
· Defacing and theft of election signs.
· Daytime burglaries have subsided.
· New Captain at Palmdale Station.
Norm Hickling discussed water issues including water theft from hydrants and upcoming meetings regarding the hauled water policy.

· Announced a luncheon meeting Oct. 7, 11:30 a.m. at Shanghai Restaurant-speaker will be from ADT Security.

· Absentee ballots are available at Acton Java, Acton Auto Parts, Garrick Chiropractic and front of Acton Market.
· Announced the candidates as follows: Ray Billett , Jim Connelly, Bill Daniels, Ray Garwacki Jr., Michael Hughes, Veronica Oliveri, Lex Rawlins, Leona Sexton.
· Candidate forum to be held Oct. 20, 7:30 p.m. Acton Community Center.
· Election to be held Nov. 4, at Hedgecock Hall Annex.
OLD BUSINESS
· Michael Hughes reported on progress of Disaster preparedness. Has talked to various groups. Planning community meeting late October or November. Calvin Oglesby is making arrangements with Los Angeles County personnel for training to begin after first of year.
NEW BUSINESS
OPEN FORUM
· Edie Jeske mentioned that the Flu Vaccines are scheduled for Nov. 5, at Acton Community Center.
· Larry Confer reported on the Stallion Meadow annual First Aid and CPR class held Sept. 27.
