MINUTES

June 2, 2003 Regular Meeting

Called to Order 7:34 p.m. by President David Weary

Donald Jordan Absent, all other officers and members present.

Norm Hickling presented a commendation to departing member Georgia Cushman on behalf of Supervisor Antonovich.

Madge Rogaczewski announced a bar-b-que party at Georgia's home June 14, 4:30 p.m.

The Chair announced the resignation of Donald Jordan. Mr. Jordan cited that he is working on his Masters thesis, and has inadequate time available for Council work.

Minutes of May 5, 2003 approved as read.

Treasurer's report: Madge Rogaczewski - Balance $ 160.79.

ANNOUNCEMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE

Dick Morris announced receipt of the following:

· Notice regarding CUP application for Wind Generator on 80ft tower at 5525 Braeloch.

· Notice of Lafco hearing on annexation of approx. 900 acres to Water Dist. 37. Scheduled for June 11.

Michael Hughes Moved to send letter opposing annexation of any area outside of Acton Community Standards District, and requesting further information. Motion Carried - unanimous. Dick Morris to send letter.

PRESENTATIONS

· Dave Jennings Sheriffs Dept. community liaison officer reported on progress on the new storefront and community volunteer patrols expected to open next week. Also reported on recent mail thefts, apparent reduction in water theft and enforcement of off-road motorcycle activities.

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS

Planning & Coordinating Chair Dick Morris

· Discussion of Acton Town Council entry in 4th of July Parade-none forthcoming.

· Reported on the Special TMC meeting in Santa Clarita May 22. Closed settlement discussions taking place

· Presented maps and timeline for work on SR14 between Vincent and Ave S (2006) and Hwy 138

Finance, Ways and Means Chair Madge Rogaczewski

· Made $70 selling sodas at Gymkhana.

· Will be selling sodas on 4th of July.

· Karaoki machine raffle tickets $1.00 or 7 for $5.00. Drawing tentative for Sept. regular meeting.

Bylaws Chair Michael Hughes

· Asked for suggestions from members. The Chair mentioned the current difference between the Acton Town Council map and the Acton Community Standards District map. The council may want to consider changing their map to coincide with the Acton Community Standards District.

Trails, Open Space & Recreation Chair Ray Billet -Nothing to report

Election Committee Chair David Eisner -Nothing to report

· Dick Morris Moved that the Council appoint replacements for the two vacant seats (Donald Jordan and Georgia Cushman). The Chair requested a roll-call vote. - Motion Failed (4-2) Dick Morris and Madge Rogaczewski dissenting.

OLD BUSINESS

· Ray Billett indicated he has received some complaints about Hawk Stone operations at Crown Valley Rd. and Soledad Cyn Rd. Will investigate for possible zoning violations.

NEW BUSINESS

· Dick Morris reported on rumors regarding Ralphs looking at Albertson's site. - Just Rumor.

· Michael Hughes Moved to oppose wind generators where they conflict with Acton Community Standards Ordinance - Motion Carried (unanimous)

OPEN FORUM

· From the gallery, Tana Lampton related an article in a national publication mentioning the Blum Ranch.

The Chair announced the next regular meeting to be held July 7, 2003, 7:30 p.m. Acton Community Center.
