November 4, 2002 Regular Meeting

Called to Order 7:31 p.m. by President David Weary

Leona Sexton absent - All other officers and members present.

Minutes of October 7, 2002 approved as read.

Treasurers report: No report

ANNOUNCEMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE

Ray Garwacki Jr. announced receipt of the following:

· Notice of Transportation Summit Meeting scheduled for Nov. 7 at Fire Station 129 Training Center.

· Notice that AV Partners for health will hold Transportation Forum on Nov. 16 at the AV Senior Center.

· Acton-Agua Dulce Trails Council newsletter.

· A letter from Supervisor Antonovich indicating Dept of Regional Planning will look into the second unit issue.

· An anouncement from the Governors office regarding 2003-2004 college student fellowship program.

PRESENTATIONS

· Norm Hickling introduced himself as replacement for Supervisor Antonovich's deputy Sherry Lasagne, who will be retiring Jan. 21. He also reviewed plans for a sheriff sub-station planned for sometime in Jan. 2003. The sub-station will be located in Santiago Square, and will be manned by community volunteers.

· Chuck Moore, attorney for Paul Lawson of Lawson Properties, accompanied by Mr. Lawson and Engineer Gary Kaiser described problems with set-back requirements encountered on TTM44443 at Ave Y-8 and Cedarcroft.

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS

Planning & Coordinating Chair Dick Morris

· Ray Garwacki Jr. read the draft letter withdrawing participation in the Association of Rural Town Councils.

Georgia Cushman Moved to send the letter. -Motion Carried (6-1) Dick Morris dissenting.

Finance, Ways and Means Chair Leona Sexton –-No report

Bylaws Chair Bill Daniels -Nothing to report

Trails, Open Space & Recreation Chair Ray Billet

· Presented copy of trails map. Will bring to next meeting.

Publicity Chair Donald Jordan --Nothing to report

Utilities Chair Donald Jordan --Nothing to report

Community Standards Chair Michael Hughes

· Looking forward to hearing from Dept of Regional Planning on 2nd unit issue.

SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORTS

Beautification Chair Georgia Cushman

· Read a notice relating that it is unlawful to post any materials (e.g. Election posters, Garage sale signs) on utility poles.

· Problem property on Listie has been turned over to D.A.

· Some complaints have been received regarding an orange house.

Drainage and Roads Chair Georgia Cushman --Nothing to report

· From the gallery, Lynne Sickler reported work has begun on widening of Soledad Cyn. Between Bootlegger Cyn. And West Crown Valley.

Rural Town Council Liaison Ray Garwacki Jr.

· Resigned as Liaison - no new appointment.

Santa Clara River Steering Committee - Liaison Ray Billet

· Received letter from Ventura County Flood Control regarding attempt to secure Federal funds through State.

Community Park Committee Liaison Leona Sexton

· Dick Morris reported on tentative meeting for Nov. 13..

Community Club Liaison Dick Morris

· Acton-Agua Dulce Arts Council will present Art Show on Nov. 9.

· 4-Square church will serve Thanksgiving Dinner on Nov. 28.

· Christmas show "The Best Chrismas Pageant ever" will be Dec. 6,7.

Acton Chamber of Commerce Liaison Michael Hughes

· Christmas ornaments for sale at Chamber office.

· Luncheon meeting at La Cabãna on Nov. 13.

Santa Clarita Valley General Plan - Liaison Leona Sexton, Bill Daniels -Nothing to report

Traffic Committee Co-Chair Leona Sexton, Georgia Cushman -Nothing to report

Election Committee Chair Ray Billett

· Single polling place will be at the house south of Hedgecock Hall.

· Ray Billett Moved to donate $50 to Community Presbyterian Church.- Motion Carried
