Called to Order 7:34 p.m. by President David Weary

Ray Garwacki Jr., Donald Jordan absent - All other officers and members present.

Minutes of August 5, 2002 meeting reading tabled.

Treasurer Leona Sexton – Reported a balance of $ _________ ?

· Dick Morris announced receipt of Notice regarding GO bond for High Speed rail project. Bond question to appear on ballot November 2004.

· Calvin Oglesby submitted and Dick Morris read a letter from a resident of Tuckerway Ranch concerning an alleged squatter nearby.

Planning & Coordinating Chair Dick Morris

· Presented details and concerns regarding a bill passed by the Calif. Legislature pre-empting local authority to allow construction of additional dwelling units without public input.

· Read letters proposed to be sent to officials (Supervisor Antonovich, etc.) Bill Daniels submitted some suggested changes to the wording. After some discussion and revision, Ray Billett Moved to send letters – Motion Carried (unanimous)

Finance, Ways and Means Chair Leona Sexton –-Nothing to report

Bylaws Chair Bill Daniels -Nothing to report

Trails, Open Space & Recreation Chair Ray Billet -Nothing to report

Publicity Chair Donald Jordan -No report

Utilities Chair Donald Jordan -No report

Beautification Chair Georgia Cushman

· Anounced Hazardous waste disposal collection to be held in October.

Drainage and Roads Chair Georgia Cushman –-Nothing to report

Rural Town Council Liaison Ray Garwacki Jr. –No report

· Michael Hughes raised the question of the council’s further involvement with the ARTC. Question will be on next agenda.

Santa Clara River Steering Committee - Liaison Ray Billet -Nothing to report

Community Park Committee Liaison Leona Sexton – -Nothing to report

Community Club Liaison Dick Morris

· Annual Appreciation Dinner – Sept. 25.

Acton Chamber of Commerce Liaison Michael Hughes

Santa Clarita Valley General Plan - Liaison Leona Sexton, Bill Daniels – -Nothing to report

Traffic Committee Co-Chair Leona Sexton, Georgia Cushman -Nothing to report

Election Committee Chair Ray Billett

· Announced the following qualified candidates:

Election to be Nov. 5. Candidate Forum scheduled for Oct. 21.Council will turn over all keys to P.O.Box 810 to Election committee to control absentee ballot collection.

Additional Committee members are : Eleanor Braun, Elizabeth Billet and Calvin Oglesby. Volunteers to work on Election Day will be needed.

The Chair announced the next regular meeting to be held October 7, 2002, 7:30 p.m. Acton Community Center.

Candidate forum to be held October 21, 2002, 7:30 p.m. Acton Community Center.
