Called to Order 7:35 p.m. by President David Weary

Bill Daniels absent, all other officers and members present.

Minutes of June 3, 2002 meeting approved as corrected.

Treasurer Leona Sexton – Reported a balance of $ 477.86

Ray Garwacki Jr. announced receipt of the following :

· Notice of transportation summit meeting scheduled for Aug. 1, at L.A. Co. Fire Station 129.

Capt. Brian Smith from Calif. Highway Patrol Lancaster Office gave a report on Calif. Highway Patrol local operations and responded to questions.

Planning & Coordinating Chair Dick Morris

· Notice of Public Hearing for renewal of Tract Map for 81 lots on 190.7 ac. Carson Mesa east of Aliso Cyn.

· Request for Surface Mining Permit at 12000 Soledad Cyn. Rd.

Finance, Ways and Means Chair Leona Sexton

· Discussed success of 4th of July sales (net $175.50)

Bylaws Chair Bill Daniels No report

Trails, Open Space & Recreation Chair Ray Billet

· Has been attending meetings in Santa Clarita. Acton-Agua Dulce Trails to be presented July 27.

· Dick Morris raised question of trails in Coussoulis project in Agua Dulce. Some problems with maintenance responsibility issues.

Publicity Chair Donald Jordan -Nothing to report

Community Standards Chair Michael Hughes --Nothing to report

Beautification Chair Georgia Cushman

· Todd Clark (Los Angeles County Zoning Violations), would like to come to a council meeting. Date tentatively set for Aug. 5.

Drainage and Roads Chair Georgia Cushman -Nothing to report

Rural Town Council Liaison Ray Garwacki Jr. -Nothing to report

Santa Clara River Steering Committee - Liaison Ray Billet -Nothing to report

Community Park Committee Liaison Leona Sexton

· Committee met June 24. Outlined cost projections.

Community Club Liaison Dick Morris

· 4th of July very successful.

· Jazz Club Aug 10th.

· Elections coming up in August.

Acton Chamber of Commerce Liaison Michael Hughes

· A.V. Fair tickets available.

· Acton night at Jethawk Stadium July 18.

· Miss Antelope Valley Pageant Aug. 3 at Fairgrounds.

Santa Clarita Valley General Plan - Liaison Leona Sexton, Bill Daniels -Nothing to report

Traffic Committee Co-Chair Leona Sexton, Georgia Cushman

· Will follow-up with Los Angeles County on items discussed at last meeting.

Election Committee Chair Ray Billett

· Applications available Aug. 9. Filing deadline Sept. 13. Election Day Nov.5. Need to make adjustment for loss of Election P.O. Box. Newspapers will publicize.

· Some mention of future traffic problems created by proposed access to Coussoulis project via Puritan Mine Rd. and Valley Sage. Dick Morris related information on water issues related to the project.

The Chair announced the next regular meeting to be held August 5, 2002, 7:30 p.m. Acton Community Center.
