Called to Order 7:32 p.m. by President David Weary

Donald Jordan absent, all other officers and members present.

Minutes of May 6, 2002 meeting approved as corrected.

Treasurer Leona Sexton – Reported a balance of $ 452.41

ANNOUNCEMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE

Ray Garwacki Jr. announced receipt of the following :

· Notice from MTA North County Combined Highway Corridor Study group announcing open house to be held June 10 in Palmdale, and June 13 in Santa Clarita.

· Notice of general meeting of Acton-Agua Dulce Trails Council June 6 at The Pizza Place.

· Letter from Supervisor Antonovich regarding request for Sheriffs Sub-Station, indicating he is referring matter to Sheriff Baca.

· Notice of Public Hearing on extension of interim urgency ordinance (2002-00-31u) regarding outdoor advertising signs.

· Notice of Antelope Valley Illegal Dumping Task Force meeting scheduled for June 12, at L.A. Co. Fire Station 129.

Planning & Coordinating Chair Dick Morris

· A letter requesting Council support for proposed railroad crossing gates at Bootlegger Cyn. Rd. Will need to get community input on this.

Finance, Ways and Means Chair Leona Sexton

· Discussed 4th of July activities. Dick Morris will send application for parade entry. May sell corn on the cob.

Bylaws Chair Bill Daniels -Nothing to report

Trails, Open Space & Recreation Chair Ray Billet

· Reported on recent meetings regarding Mountain Conservancy.

· Working on getting Bike / Hike trails in Soledad Cyn. To connect with Pacific Crest.

Community Standards Chair Michael Hughes --Nothing to report

SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORTS

Beautification Chair Georgia Cushman

· Thanks to Waste Management for trash pick-up days May 24, 25.

· Continuing follow up on dumpsites at 33515 Santiago, 35225 Kerpsie, and Barnby Rd.

· Working with County on "used car lot" at Creditors Specialty Svc. and operations at Hawk Stone.

Drainage and Roads Chair Georgia Cushman -Nothing to report

Rural Town Council Liaison Ray Garwacki Jr. -Nothing to report

Santa Clara River Steering Committee - Liaison Ray Billet -Nothing to report

Community Park Committee Liaison Leona Sexton

· Committee meeting in May was cancelled.

Community Club Liaison Dick Morris

· Little Night Music June 1 was sellout (SRO) attendance.

· Young Peoples Art Show May 19 was very impressive.

· Library meeting scheduled for June 4, 7:30 p.m. at Pizza Place.

· Air Force Band will give concert at Hi Desert July 1, 6:30 p.m.

· Lots of new activities planned for 4th of July.

David Weary indicated some problems with septic system at Little Night Music. System may need some upgrading.

Acton Chamber of Commerce Liaison Michael Hughes

· Parade planning is going well.

From the gallery, Lynne Sickler announced:

· Luncheon Meeting June 5 Ann Vanino, at La Cabana.

· Mixer June 20 at home of Patty Akkad.

Santa Clarita Valley General Plan - Liaison Leona Sexton, Bill Daniels -Nothing to report

Traffic Committee Co-Chair Leona Sexton, Georgia Cushman

Committee Meeting May 21 at Hedgecock Hall. Some items discussed were:

· Flow and visibility problems at Wisconsin / Soledad Cyn., Gemstone Park, Stallion Meadow.

· Excessive speed on freeway bypass routes (Sierra Highway, Soledad Cyn, and Escondido Cyn).

· Limit lines at No. Crown Valley Rd. / Soledad Cyn.

· Soledad Cyn improvements between Bootlegger and West Crown Valley Rd. being surveyed. Dick Morris indicated RFB has been published.

Ray Billett related problem with response to recent accident at No.Crown Valley Rd. / Soledad Cyn.

Georgia Cushman indicated receipt of comments from citizens regarding recent increase in police presence.

OLD BUSINESS

· Ray Billett indicated that the tract near Aliso Cyn and Carson Mesa has apparently begun construction.

NEW BUSINESS

· The Chair appointed Ray Billett to chair the Election Committee.

· David Weary reported on problems with setback compliance on the Lawson Ct. tract off Y-8 near south end of Cedarcroft.
