Ray Garwacki Jr. announced :
· Notice of Development Permit filing fee adjustment from L.A. County Dept. of Regional Planning.
Dick Morris announced:
· Illegal Dumping Task Force meeting Feb. 13 at Fire Station 129.
David Weary announced:
· Request from Calif. Regional Water Quality Control Board for nominations to consider for awards for significant impact or contributions to further water quality.
PRESENTATIONS
· Representatives of L.A. County Dept. of Public Works , Suk Chong and Frank Woo, introduced the new Watershed Management Division of the Department and outlined its functions.
· From the Gallery a local resident expressed concerns about an apparent illegal dump site on Hubbard rd.
Appropriate information was given to Beautification committee.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS
Planning & Coordinating Chair Dick Morris
· Representatives of Adelphia Cable gave an update report on their progress in upgrading the Acton Cable system.
· Calif. Regional Water Quality Control Board has approved plans for monitoring well system at Crown Valley Community Church.
· Transit-Mixed Concrete has filed suit against L.A. County and City of Santa Clarita.
· L.A. County Regional Planning Commission hearing Jan. 6, Conditional Use Permit 97-141 Acton Faith Bible Church/School on Soledad Cyn. Rd. near Santiago. (ref. July 2, 2001 Regular Meeting)
· L.A. County Board of Supervisors agenda for Jan. 5, contract award for work to be done on Soledad Canyon near Maher Creek.
· Reported on inspection of Drug Re-hab home on Eagle Butte (ref. Jan. 7, 2002 Regular Meeting ) by Antelope Valley zoning enforcement. Facility was found to be in compliance and well kept at the time of inspection (Jan. 10,)
Finance, Ways and Means Chair Leona Sexton
· Still looking for fund raising ideas. Possibility gift certificate raffle.
· Michael Hughes suggested someone should research the possibility of a grant award. He will check with some school people to get ideas how to do it.
Bylaws Chair Bill Daniels -Nothing to Report
· Reported on 5th District Town Council roundtable held at Descanso Gardens. Ten councils were represented. Planning next meeting for late summer or fall.
Trails, Open Space & Recreation Chair Ray Billet
· Bridge on Aliso Cyn. is completed.
· U.S. Forest Service planning changes. Meeting scheduled for Jan. 5 at Palmdale Ramada Inn 6 to 9 p.m.
Publicity Chair Donald Jordan
· Inquired as to locations of notice boxes.
Utilities Chair Donald Jordan -Nothing to Report
Community Standards Chair Michael Hughes
· Reported on apparent opaque perimeter fence under construction at corner of Crown Valley Rd. and Banson. David Weary suggested contact code enforcement (Willie Smith).
· Expressed concerns regarding outside street vendors and reported on possible attack on school child. David Weary suggested contact Deputy Doepking.
SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORTS
Beautification Chair Georgia Cushman
· Got used cars remove from property at NW corner of Crown Valley Rd. and Smith Av.
Drainage and Roads Chair Georgia Cushman
· Representative from MTA will attend Mar. 4 Regular Meeting to advise on transportation studies.
Rural Town Council Liaison Ray Garwacki Jr.
· Reported on Jan. 31 Association of Rural Town Councils meeting. Antelope Valley councils are working on establishing their boundaries. New council is being formed in Juniper Hills.
· From the Gallery Lillian Smith reported on some residents near the west boundary of the Acton Community Standards District who wish to be in Agua Dulce. David Weary reported that the county map has been done, he will bring it to the next meeting.
Santa Clara River Steering Committee - Liaison Ray Billet -Nothing to Report
Community Park Committee Liaison Leona Sexton
· Dick Morris reported on last meeting. L.A. County is voting on acceptance of third parcel. After that it should be turned over to Dept. of Public Works in 2 to 3 months.
Community Club Liaison Dick Morris
· Water line broke and was fixed.
Acton Chamber of Commerce Liaison Michael Hughes
· Raised the concept of combined Chamber of Commerce /Acton Town Council /Agua Dulce Town Council event. Possibly picnic/fund raiser. Something to think about.
Santa Clarita Valley General Plan - Liaison Leona Sexton, Bill Daniels
· Working on scheduling committee meeting for update information.
Traffic Committee Co-Chair Leona Sexton, Georgia Cushman
· Working on scheduling committee meeting for update information.
· Dick Morris inquired as to progress of improvements on Soledad Cyn Rd.(ref: June 5, 2000 Regular Meeting). Have been some personnel changes at L.A. County Dept. of Public Works, will check on it.
