Called to Order 7:30 p.m. by President David Weary

All officers and members present.

Minutes of August 6, 2001 meeting approved as published.

Treasurer Leona Sexton - Reported a balance of $ 903.46

Ray Garwacki Jr. announced receipt of the following:

· A letter from resident M.J. Johnson concerning traffic conditions on Sierra Hwy and Soledad Cyn. Rd.

· Newsletter from Santa Clarita indicating Transit-Mixed Concrete hearing scheduled for Nov.27.

· Andrew Malakates L.A. County Dept. of Regional Planning outlined the process and progress of the development of the Santa Clarita Valley General Plan. He also announced a congress to be held Oct. 25, 6 - 9 p.m. at Canyon High School Auditorium.

· Gary Kaiser, Classic Engineering, Presented an update on TM43766 (39 single family lots on 79+ acres).

Bill Daniels Moved to accept the project as presented with stipulations of Acton Community Standards Ordinance compliance regarding Pedestrian/Equestrian pathways. Motion Carried (6-2) Ray Billet, Ray Garwacki Jr. dissenting.

Planning & Coordinating Chair Dick Morris

· PM26068 10ac into 2 5ac lots north of Shannon Valley Rd. between 62nd and 63rd streets. No Action Taken .

Finance, Ways and Means Chair Leona Sexton -Nothing to Report

Bylaws Chair Bill Daniels -Nothing to Report

Trails, Open Space & Recreation Chair Ray Billet

· Michael Antonovich Trail ride scheduled for Oct. 21 at Vasquez Rocks.

· Acton-Agua Dulce Trails Council annual breakfast set for Oct. 27.

Publicity Chair Calvin Oglesby --Nothing to Report

Utilities Chair Doug Barnett -Nothing to Report

Community Standards Chair David Weary

· Discussion of possible means for providing equestrian pathways where crossing paved driveways.

Beautification Chair Georgia Cushman

· L.A. County Household Hazardous Waste pickup will be Oct. 20 at High Desert School.

Drainage and Roads Chair Doug Barnett -Nothing to Report

Rural Town Council Liaison Cal Oglesby

· Next meeting will be Sept. 26. In Quartz Hill. Ray Garwacki Jr. will attend.

Santa Clara River Steering Committee - Liaison Ray Billet -Nothing to Report

Community Park Committee Liaison Leona Sexton

· Meeting tomorrow (Sept. 18) at Michael Antonovich office.

· From the Gallery George Miller raised the question of flood map certification.

Community Club Liaison Dick Morris

· New officers are: Pres. - David Weary , V.Pres. - Calvin Oglesby , Secretary. - Larry Smith , and Treas. - Peggy Fate .

Santa Clarita Valley General Plan - Chair Leona Sexton -Nothing to Report

· Will work on designating delegates for Congress.

Election - Chair Calvin Oglesby

· Presented list of five applicants for the five available positions: Ray Billet , Georgia Cushman, Ray Garwacki Jr., Michael Hughes, and Donald Jordan.

· Moved to waive the election process UP Article 12, Sect 1, Acton Town Council Bylaws. Motion Carried.

The Chair excused the election committee, and announced installation of new members to be Nov. 19.

OLD BUSINESS

· J.D.Roberts inquired as to the status of the open space at Stallion Meadow. Council will investigate.

· Lillian Smith related reports of a gate restricting access through Quicksilver Ln.

· Larry Smith announced that the Community Club had added a $5 energy surcharge to the rent for each meeting at the Community Center.

The Chair announced the next regular meeting to be held October 1, 2001, 7:30 p.m. Acton Community Center .

The next planning meeting to be held Oct. 15, 2001, 7:30 p.m. Acton Community Center .
