May 7, 2001 Regular Meeting

Called to Order 7:37 p.m. by President David Weary

Ray Garwacki Jr. absent. All other officers and members present.

Minutes of April 2, 2001 meeting approved as published.

Treasurer Leona Sexton - Reported a balance 0f $ 911.46

The Chair called an Executive Session, the Council retired to the kitchen for approximately 10 minutes. After returning, The Chair announced the purpose of the Executive Session was to discuss recent rumors.

ANNOUNCEMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE

PRESENTATIONS

· Alain Bally, an independent consultant representing Albertson's, gave an update on their proposed project at the southwest corner of Crown Valley Rd. and Antelope Woods Rd., and answered questions from the gallery. The major change from the original proposal has been the elimination of the Gas Station/Mini-Mart from the plans. L.A. County Regional Planning Commission Public Hearing on the Conditional Use Permit -00152 for Alcohol Sales is scheduled for May 30.

· Has received a copy of Waste Discharge Requirements from Calif. Regional Water Quality Control Board .

Finance, Ways and Means Chair Leona Sexton

· Funds are getting low, need some fund-raising ideas.

Trails, Open Space & Recreation Chair Ray Billet - -Nothing to Report

Publicity Chair Calvin Oglesby --Nothing to Report

SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORTS

Beautification Chair Georgia Cushman

· Thanks to George Miller for his work on Community Clean-up.

· Dick Morris inquired as to the feasibility of having clean-up semi-annual or quarterly. Georgia Cushman will check into it.

Drainage and Roads Chair Doug Barnett --Nothing to Report

Rural Town Council Liaison Cal Oglesby --Nothing to Report

Santa Clara River Steering Committee Liaison Ray Billet

· Announced that the same species of toad that resulted in the closure of Littlerock Reservoir has been found at the Newhall Land development site. Will watch to see what happens.

Community Park Committee Liaison Leona Sexton ---Nothing to Report

Community Club Liaison Dick Morris

· Little Night Music scheduled for June 2. Has tickets for sale $15 for Adults, $7 for children.

Santa Clarita Valley General Plan - Chair Leona Sexton

· Committee met April 5 at La Cabaña. Workshops scheduled for May 9-10.

· The Chair announced a meeting with Agua Dulce Town Council to be held at Agua Dulce Women's Club 7:30 p.m. Wednesday May 9. Andy Malakates (L.A. County Dept. of Regional Planning ) will be there.

· Bill Daniels reported on possibility of separate plan for Acton/Agua Dulce. Would require additional funding. County is checking on it.

OLD BUSINESS

NEW BUSINESS

· Doug Barnett raised the question of a written legal description of the Acton Community Standards District boundaries, distributed copies, and Moved that the Council accept - no second. The Council will review the documents and discuss at the May 21 Planning Meeting.

OPEN FORUM

· The Chair answered a question from a community member regarding the rumor that the Acton Town Council was planning to reverse its position on the Albertson's Conditional Use Permit . There has been no such plan, the position taken at the Feb. 19 Regular Meeting still stands.

ADJOURNMENT

The Chair announced the next regular meeting to be held June 4, 2001, 7:30 p.m. Acton Community Center .
