Decmber 18, 2000 Regular Meeting

Called to Order 7:32 P.M. by President David Weary

All officers and members present.

Minutes of November 20, 2000 meeting approved as published.

Treasurer Leona Sexton --Reported a balance of $1227.81

ANNOUNCEMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE

The Chair announced receipt of the following :

· Information summary from L.A. County.

· Information package from Albertson's.

· Letter of resignation from Chrys Hamper .

PRESENTATIONS

· The Chair displayed planning materials from Albertson's and announced that representatives from Albertson's will be in attendance at the January 15 Regular Meeting. Albertson's is planning a supermarket and minimart/gas station on the southwest corner of Crown Valley Rd. and Antelope Woods, and has applied for a Conditional Use Permit for sale of alcoholic beverages.

· The Chair read and accepted a letter of resignation from Chrys Hamper . Leona Sexton presented a gift from the Council to Ms. Hamper.

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS

Planning & Coordinating Chair Dick Morris

· Presented some details of the Albertson's proposal. Supermarket (40341 Sq.Ft.) and Minimart/Gas Station (2000 Sq.Ft.) on Zone C-3. Delta Q Basin on Zone A-1. Parking for 199. Height of storefront = 35 Ft. L.A. County Dept. of Public Works has deleted Equestrian Trail along Crown Valley Rd.

· Discussion of the question of Acton involvement in the joint L.A. County -Santa Clarita draft general plan. L.A. County will make presentation at a future meeting.

Finance, Ways and Means Chair Leona Sexton --Nothing to Report

Trails, Open Space & Recreation Chair Ray Billet

Acton-Agua Dulce Trails Council is discussing Trail along Crown Valley Rd. at SR-14 underpass.

Publicity Chair Calvin Oglesby -Nothing to Report

· From the Gallery Larry Smith relayed a message from Acton Auto Parts that they no longer have space for the Acton Town Council bulletin board.

Utilities Chair Doug Barnett

· Expressed concerns about electric power costs resulting from de-regulation.

Community Standards Chair David Weary -Nothing to Report

· Performance of "A Christmas Carol" on Dec. 8 & 9 was a success.

· Dick Morris suggested that the newspapers publish a survey concerning Albertson's proposal.

· Calvin Oglesby indicated that L.A. County Sheriffs Dept. still looking for Substation location. They will need at least 25 volunteers to provide additional patrol car.
