Called to Order 7:40 P.M. by Vice President Dick Morris
David Weary & Ray Garwacki Jr. absent, All other officers and members present.
Minutes of September 18, 2000 meeting approved as published.
Treasurer Leona Sexton reported a balance of $ 1363.81.
ANNOUNCEMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE
The Chair announced receipt of the following correspondence :
· A notice from Calif. Regional Water Quality Control Board regarding meetings to be held Oct. 17 in Oxnard, and Oct. 18 in Los Angeles, to discuss Los Angeles Basin Plan.
· A copy of Negative Declarations on proposed annexation of 812 acres by L.A. County Dept. of Public Works Water District # 37.
· Notice of Public Hearing L.A. County Regional Planning Commission Oct. 25, to consider Housing Element amendments to L.A. County General Plan.
· Notice of contact personnel change for response to Prop. 13 Request for Proposal.
· Illegal Dumping Task Force next meeting Oct. 11.
· Copy of a letter of commendation from L.A. County Fire Dept. to Carson Water Delivery for their actions during the Yucca Fire in Agua Dulce on Sept. 13.
· Letter from Acton resident Vince Taglieri expressing concerns about water resources and recent development trends.
· The Chair presented a commendation from Michael Antonovich to Corky and Barbara Carson for their actions during the Yucca Fire in Agua Dulce on Sept. 13.
PRESENTATIONS
The Chair re-introduced the question of Renewal of Carson Bros. Conditional Use Permit #97-175. Regional Planning hearing set for Oct. 11. Request is for 20 year duration with no changes in operations.
Ray Billet, Chrys Hamper, and Leona Sexton petitioned the Chair for an executive session to discuss the question.
Recessed to Executive Session at 7:58 p.m.
The Chair called the meeting back to order at 8:05 p.m.
Bill Daniels Moved to recommend approval of Conditional Use Permit # 97-175 as submitted.-Motion Carried (5-1) Ray Billet dissenting.
The Chair introduced the question of a Conditional Use Permit application by Nextel Communications for a 15ft Cellular Antenna site to be co-located with existing site(s) north of Sierra Hwy.-east of Hypotenuse Rd. Public Hearing scheduled for Oct. 3. Bill Daniels Moved to recommend approval-Motion Carried (unanimous)
The Chair presented and read a letter of opposition to the Transit-Mixed Concrete Mining project to be sent to all L.A. County Supervisors. Approved by Unanimous Consent.

· Hazardous Waste Roundup to be held by L.A. County at High Desert School Oct. 14, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
· Working with county committee to organize major cleanup in April.

Rural Town Council Liaison Calvin Oglesby
· Will meet with Acton Town Council at meeting of Oct. 16 George Runner expected to attend.
Santa Clara River Steering Committee Liaison Ray Billet
· Still working on raising money for studies.
Community Park Committee Liaison Leona Sexton -Nothing to Report
Community Club Liaison Dick Morris
· Community Club keys have been changed. New keys may be signed out from club Secretary Larry Smith .
OLD BUSINESS
· Chrys Hamper commented on breakfast meeting held on Sat. by City of Santa Clarita to generate public opinion in opposition to Transit-Mixed Concrete mining proposal. Major rally to be held in Santa Clarita Oct. 11.
