The Acton Town Council was formed in 1989 in an effort to provide a stronger local voice in community development, and to try to ensure the continuation of Acton’s country lifestyle.

The Acton Town Council acts as a liaison between various government agencies, and the community at large.

The nine members serve staggered two-year terms and receive no compensation for their efforts. Elections are held each year in November, coincident with State, Federal, and County elections.

The Council was instrumental in achieving adoption (on 11-21-95) of the Acton Community Standards and Architectural Style Guidelines by Los Angeles County.

Public meetings are held on the first and third Monday of each month at the Acton Community Center.
