The church was founded at its present site in 1956. Pastor Mitchell and his wife, Mary have served the church as Senior Pastors since 1981. Associate Pastor Michael McDowell and his wife, have been on board since May 1995. The church also has a Youth Pastorate, headed by Greg and Tami Howell, as well as Children's Ministries, through Pastor Bobby and K.C. Calderon.

The church is heavily involved in community affairs and outreaches. Each year, it presents a free Thanksgiving dinner for Acton at the Community Center, just a block up the street from the church. Children's Ministries hosts a Vacation Bible School for grade school aged youngsters at Thousand Trails each summer. The church also presents a Christmas program for the residents at the Acton Rehab Center in December.

The Youth Ministry (also known as U-Turn), headed by Pastor Howell, reaches out to the junior and senior high aged citizens of the community. U-Turn has its own self-contained band, and frequently paticipates in mission projects feeding the homeless in the Downtown Los Angeles area.
